Department of Theoretical and structural mechanics established in November 2004 at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and the Department of Structural Mechanics of the Academy. Historically, the Department of Structural Mechanics was founded in 1934 Over the years the Department of structural mechanics was headed by Assoc. , Ph.D. AP Voinov ; prof. , Ph.D. Kahn SN (1969-1977 years) ; prof. , Ph.D. Pustovoitov VP (1977-2004 years). Department of Theoretical Mechanics was established by Order of the Ministry of Education of USSR № 277 of 23 May 1964. In 1988, due to changes in the structure of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics HIIKB was reorganized into the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Over the years the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics was headed by Assoc. , Ph.D. Pogorelov AI (1964-1970 years) ; prof. , Ph.D. Kogan B. (1970-1971 years) ; Assoc. , Ph.D. Satsuki GM (1971-1976 years) ; prof. , Ph.D. Breslavska VE (1976-1997 years) ; prof. , Ph.D. Zolotov , MS (1997-1999 years).
